VEN CLEANAIR KNV by Venjakob

Catalytic Aftertreatment Systems for Industrial Applications

KNV Systems for VOC Exhaust Air Streams Suitable for Catalytic Conversion

VEN CLEANAIR KNV systems are designed with the catalyst as the central component. To achieve this, flow distribution, preheating, temperature monitoring, bypass or protective functions, and future access to the catalyst module must all be carefully integrated into the design. The result is a system in which not only does the reaction work, but operation, monitoring, and service are also technically ensured.

  • Flow distribution across the catalyst bed
  • Temperature monitoring and protective functions can be integrated
  • Catalyst modules accessible for maintenance and replacement

The Advantages of Catalytic Aftertreatment Systems

With KNV systems, it is not just the catalyst itself that matters, but also how well the system ensures that it operates under optimal conditions over the long term.

Keep the operating window under control

The sensors, control system, and airflow are calibrated so that the catalytic converter operates as consistently as possible within the specified temperature and load range.

Keeping an Eye on Catalytic Converter Lifespan

Accessible modules, appropriate monitoring, and service-friendly assemblies make it easier to inspect, maintain, and, if necessary, replace the catalytic converter.

Protection against adverse operating conditions

The system can be designed to detect temperature spikes, unsuitable load conditions, or critical process deviations at an early stage.

Uniform distribution of the reaction surface

The airflow is designed to ensure that the catalyst is utilized as evenly as possible. This enhances cleaning performance, extends service life, and ensures stable operation.

Service Concept for Sensitive Components

Sensor points, catalytic converter modules, and relevant assemblies remain accessible so that maintenance can be scheduled in advance rather than performed only after a malfunction occurs.

Which VEN CLEANAIR KNV is right for your process?

When selecting a KNV system, the first consideration is the suitability of the exhaust air stream(s). In addition to volume flow and VOC load, the key factors are the constituents, catalyst compatibility, and temperature range. Depending on the model, typical KNV systems range from approximately 1,000 to 18,000 Nm³/h.

KNV systems are suitable for defined exhaust air streams with predictable operating conditions. Depending on the unit size, volume flow volumes ranging from approximately 1,000 to 18,000 Nm³/h can be accommodated. However, the selection process depends not only on the volume flow volume but also on how stable the concentration, temperature, and composition remain during operation.

The catalyst enables oxidation at lower temperatures than those required for purely thermal incineration processes. Typical reaction temperatures often range from about 250 to 450 °C, depending on the VOC composition, catalyst type, and purification target. The system must reliably maintain this temperature range.

The exhaust gas must be suitable for the catalyst. Critical components such as silicones, halogens, sulfur compounds, dust, or aerosols can impair the catalyst’s activity and service life. Therefore, evaluating the constituents of exhaust gases is a key part of the design process for KNV systems.

Catalyst modules, measurement points, and relevant assemblies must remain accessible for inspection, maintenance, or replacement. Service life depends heavily on the composition of the exhaust gas, temperature control, and process stability. A good service plan ensures that the catalyst is not only addressed when a malfunction occurs.

Our VEN CLEANAIR KNV catalytic incineration system

When is KNV the right choice?

Catalytic incineration is particularly advantageous when the VOC composition is known and relatively constant, no critical catalyst poisons are present, and oxidation can take place at a lower temperature than with purely thermal incineration. In such cases, catalytic afterburning can be an energy-efficient alternative.

If the VOC composition is known

The VEN CleanAIR KNV XS is ideal for this application. It is suitable for small, clearly defined exhaust air streams where catalytic suitability can be reliably assessed.

When processes run smoothly

The VEN CleanAIR TNV S is designed for continuous production processes with moderate exhaust air volumes and consistent requirements for purification performance, temperature control, and availability.

When low reaction temperatures are required

When low reaction temperatures are required, the VEN CleanAIR KNV M is used. Its catalyst enables oxidation at lower temperatures than purely thermal incineration processes, thereby significantly reducing energy consumption during continuous operation.

When higher VOC loads are suitable for catalytic treatment

The VEN CleanAIR KNV L is designed for higher VOC loads suitable for catalytic treatment. It is intended for exhaust air streams with elevated pollutant concentrations, provided that the composition is suitable for the catalyst and can be safely controlled.

For significantly higher volume flows

The VEN CleanAIR KNV XL is designed for large exhaust air volumes suitable for catalytic conversion. Key factors include sufficient catalytic surface area, low pressure drops, and an airflow design that allows even high volume flow volumes to be managed cost-effectively.
